Shalem Leadership Training Conference for the Personal Spiritual Deepening Program: Living in God

Dates: June 15-21, 2012 (3pm June 15 to 2pm June 21)

Our Partnership

To support you in preparing for and leading PSDP in your community, Shalem will provide for up to 8 teams a week-long leadership training conference that will include:

  • morning seminars on PSDP core components: Contemplative Living: Intent and Assumptions; Listening and Transformation; Discernment; Spiritual Community; Earth Wisdom; and Sacred Activism
  • afternoon sessions on leadership issues and spiritual practices regarding the seminar topic of the day.  This time will also include discussion and preparation for Retreat Leadership, Small Group Formation guidelines and norms, consideration of program formats, ongoing Shalem support and link to the Deepening Contemplative Leadership Program.
  • evening sessions in small groups called Listening Circles you will reflect on the day, listening together for emerging questions  and challenges which may apply to your local settings
  • experiential contemplative practices
  • materials and practices that you may use with your participants

Following the Leadership Conference, you will receive:

  • prayer support prior to and during your program offering
  • guidance and feedback around location, pricing, advertising and registration
  • the use of Shalem's name in advertising your program
  • PSDP publicity flyer for your use
  • information about your offering on Shalem's website
  • information about your offering via email to Shalem friends in your area
  • contact information for Shalem friends in your zipcode area
  • up to 5 hours of ongoing mentoring support for each team
  • leadership for a follow-up reflection time to share experiences, learnings, practices and materials which you may attend at no charge except for room and board

Identify another Shalem extension program graduate with whom you commit to prepare for and lead PSDP. 

We ask each team to:

  • attend all of the Leadership Training Conference
  • commit to lead PSDP in your community beginning within 6 months of the Leadership Conference
  • determine within guidelines provided and handle location, pricing, advertising and registration for your group
  • use the curriculum and content that is provided by Shalem for this program only
  • use "Personal Spiritual Deepening Program: Living in God" as the program name and "PSDP" as its abbreviation
  • specify PSDP as an experiential learning program of the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in all publicity; provide participants with information about Shalem's short and long-term programs and the Shalem Society

  • send to your assigned Shalem mentor and to Ann Dean a copy of the publicity materials for review and approval prior to publication

  • make a commitment to the mentoring relationship; initiate mentoring calls by sending a request to your mentor and noting the topic you would like to discuss
  • complete program and leadership evaluations and send to your assigned mentor within 2 weeks of program completion
  • send at least one co-leader to attend the follow-up reflection session  

Cost

$45 non-refundable application fee; $2,185 tuition.  The tuition fee covers direct costs including leadership, mentoring and room and board.  Please note that we are working hard to keep costs low because we value your partnership.
